From Kamchatka
with lag.

This is the story of a small northern clan that crossed the Bering Strait the slow way and now runs US cyberspace on volcano power and smoked salmon. Scroll — it's a movie.

// Chapter 01 · Kamchatka

Meet the clan.

Five Etelmen, three cyber huskies and one yurt with suspiciously good Wi‑Fi. We fish, we chop, we cook, we deploy. The volcano watches. The salmon negotiate.

  • The Fisher — patience of a glacier, mustache of a legend.
  • The Cook — turns salmon into a love language.
  • The Woodcutter — chops logs and bad ideas.
  • The Coder — pushes to prod from a log. Literally.
  • The Link — talks to satellites. They talk back.
// Chapter 02 · The signal

hello, world.

One night the satellite blinked twice. On the Coder's laptop: “hello, world — from LA”. Nobody knew who sent it. Everybody knew we were going.

The huskies voted first. Unanimously. Loudly.

// Chapter 03 · Packing

Load the Narta.

Crates of smoked salmon. Three huskies. Antlers bolted on for better reception. The Cyber Narta was packed by sunrise — which, in a Kamchatka winter, is lunch.

// Chapter 04 · The crossing

82 km of ice.

In winter the Bering Strait freezes into the world's coldest highway. Perfect road. Terrible Wi‑Fi. Three huskies asking “are we there yet” in binary.

// Chapter 05 · Alaska

Geyser supercharger.

Cold. Familiar. Suspiciously like home. We charged the Narta from a geyser — three eruptions to 100%. A moose watched the whole thing and said nothing. Respect.

// Chapter 06 · Down the coast

Parkas at +28°C.

Snow became sand. Spruce became palms. Five people in fur parkas on the Pacific Coast Highway. Locals assumed it was a marketing stunt. It was not.

// Chapter 07 · Los Angeles

We made it.

Rent hit harder than any Kamchatka winter, so we put the yurt on a roof and the dish on the yurt. Cyberspace: conquered. Real estate: not yet.

// Chapter 08 · The mission

Owners, not renters.

We didn't come to rent. We came to own. The dream: our own café, our own brand, our own neon salmon on Sunset Boulevard. Salmon Rock Café, worldwide.

Inspired by the Seminole Tribe of Florida, who went from customers to owners of Hard Rock in 2007. Respect.

// Chapter 09 · Who we are

We are the Cyber Etelmen.

We never really left Kamchatka. We brought it with us — the patience of fishermen, the stubbornness of volcanoes and a very loud group chat of huskies.

[01] VOLCANOES CONQUERED29All of them active. Like us.
[02] SALMON DEPLOYED1.2MSmoked, versioned, shipped.

// The route, in one picture

Kamchatka drawn to scale. Everything else is vibes. Route reconstructed from salmon GPS and one very confused reindeer.
// Cyber skills

Built in the cold.

Survived −40°C

Your firewall is cute. We've stood outside in worse.

Salmon-powered servers

Smoked, not fried. Zero downtime since the last ice age.

Volcano-grade uptime

Our data center is literally a volcano. Geothermal, baby.

Northern lights UI

We invented dark mode. Six months of night will do that.

Reindeer mesh network

Every reindeer is a node. Latency depends on its mood.

Parka-level encryption

Three layers of fur. Nobody is getting in. Not even us, sometimes.

// Manifesto

We don't hack cyberspace.
We ice-fish in it.

  • Patience of a fisherman. Uptime of a volcano.
  • Respect the elders. Also respect the senior devs.
  • Never ship on a Friday. Never fish in a storm.
  • Bring the parka. California AC is no joke.
// Join the clan

Bring your own parka.

One email a month. Only smoked-salmon-grade updates. No spam — we're from Kamchatka, not from a server farm.

It's a joke form. Nothing is sent or stored.
